With crisp air, soft autumn light and the Cotswolds beginning to turn golden, Megan and Arlen couldn’t have chosen a better day to get married. Old Gore Barn certainly provided the perfect backdrop for this special occasion.
From the relaxed morning preparations through to a packed dance floor in the evening, their day was full of warmth, emotion and effortless style – exactly the kind of wedding that suits Old Gore Barn so perfectly.
The day began at Ampneyfield Farm near Cirencester, where both Megan and Arlen got ready surrounded by their closest friends and family. The atmosphere throughout the morning was calm and genuinely fun, with bridal party laughter echoing through the cottages while final details came together.
Megan wore a stunning gown paired with classic designer heels, while the bridesmaids wore elegant mix-and-match dresses that complemented the autumn tones beautifully.
A moment which really stood out for me was Megan’s first look with her bridesmaids and her dad. Those quiet, emotional moments before the ceremony always make for some of the most meaningful photographs of the day.
The ceremony itself was heartfelt and emotional, with so many genuine reactions throughout. Soft natural light filled the barn throughout the ceremony and the stunning floral pieces enabled me to capture some beautiful images. Following the ceremony, guests gathered outside the barn for a confetti shower, creating the perfect celebratory atmosphere.
October light in the Cotswolds is always beautiful, and we made the most of it during Megan and Arlen’s couple portraits around the venue grounds.
Rather than spending hours away from guests, they wanted relaxed, natural photographs that captured them together without feeling overly posed. Old Gore Barn offers so many stunning backdrops – from the modern barn architecture to the surrounding countryside views – making it easy to create timeless images without needing to travel far.
The reception space inside Old Gore Barn looked incredible as guests sat down for the wedding breakfast. The styling kept things elegant and understated, allowing the venue’s character to shine through.
The speeches brought a mix of laughter and emotion, including a limoncello toast that had everyone smiling, before the evening celebrations began.
Later in the evening, we also slipped out briefly for some golden hour portraits just before sunset. Those quieter moments together gave Megan and Arlen a chance to pause and soak in the day before heading back to the party.
As nighttime fell, the dance floor absolutely came alive thanks to the live entertainment. From the first dance through to the final songs of the evening, the energy never dropped and the packed dance floor made for some brilliant candid moments.
Old Gore Barn is one of those venues that works beautifully in every season, but autumn weddings here have a particularly special atmosphere. The combination of rustic character, modern design and surrounding countryside makes it an incredible location for relaxed wedding photography.
This day was a perfect reminder that the best weddings are often the ones focused simply on being present with the people you love most. A huge thank you to Megan and Arlen for having me there to tell the story of their wedding day.
