Set against the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside, Melissa and Luke’s wedding at Dodford Manor was a day full of heartfelt moments, joyful celebrations and the people who mean the most to them. From the excitement of getting ready with their closest friends and family at Staverton Park Hotel, to the laughter, emotion and dancing that carried through into the evening, their wedding was a perfect reflection of a couple who value connection, fun and creating memories together.
With its characterful barns, beautiful grounds and relaxed countryside setting, Dodford Manor provided the perfect backdrop for a celebration that felt both elegant and personal.
The day began at Staverton Park Hotel, where both Melissa and Luke were getting ready surrounded by their closest friends and family. Melissa’s bridal suite was a hive of excitement as hair and makeup artists worked their magic.
One of my favourite moments of the morning was Melissa’s first look with her nan. These quiet, emotional moments often become some of the most treasured photographs from the entire wedding day. Shortly afterwards, her bridesmaids saw her for the first time, and the room was instantly filled with joyful excitement.
Meanwhile, Luke and his groomsmen were enjoying a much more relaxed morning getting suited and booted before making their way to Dodford Manor.
Dodford Manor is one of Northamptonshire’s most stunning barn wedding venues, combining rustic charm with modern elegance. The beautiful ceremony barn provided the perfect setting as family and friends gathered to watch Melissa and Luke say “I do.”
The ceremony was full of emotion, with plenty of laughter mixed in with the happy tears, creating exactly the kind of authentic moments I love documenting.
As the newlyweds walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, they were greeted by an incredible confetti shower before everyone gathered outside for a full group photograph with all of their guests.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the sunshine while the garden came alive with entertainment. A live saxophonist created an amazing atmosphere, whilst guests enjoyed ice creams, a gin bar and catching up with friends and family.
This part of the day is always one of my favourites to photograph because everyone naturally relaxes. The hugs, laughter and conversations create beautiful candid photographs that truly capture the atmosphere of the wedding.
One thing Melissa and Luke had highlighted as a priority was spending time together for their couple portraits. Dodford Manor offers so many gorgeous locations for wedding photography, from the countryside views to the rustic stone walls and peaceful pathways around the venue. We created a collection of romantic portraits that felt natural and effortless, making the most of Melissa’s flowing veil and the soft light.
Rather than taking the couple away from their guests for too long, we kept everything relaxed before returning to enjoy the celebrations.
After family group photographs, it was time to have some fun with the wedding party.
From celebratory fizz sprays to the bridesmaids running in for giant hugs, these moments perfectly reflected the personalities of everyone involved. The groomsmen certainly brought plenty of energy, while Melissa’s bridesmaids kept everyone laughing throughout.
These are often the images couples end up printing because they capture the joy and excitement of sharing the day with their favourite people.
Following a delicious wedding breakfast, the speeches brought a mixture of laughter, heartfelt stories and emotional moments that had everyone smiling.
As the evening light softened, we headed back outside for a few more relaxed portraits. Golden hour at Dodford Manor is always magical, with warm light spilling across the surrounding countryside, creating the perfect setting for romantic photographs before the evening celebrations began.
As evening guests arrived, the celebrations continued with cake cutting followed immediately by the first dance. The dance floor quickly filled as family and friends celebrated late into the evening, bringing a perfect end to an incredible wedding day.
From emotional first looks and happy tears to champagne celebrations and golden hour portraits, Melissa and Luke’s wedding was filled with the moments that make photographing weddings so special.
